Pro bassist and former Leeds College of Music bass tutor Gary Simons has re-located to the Bognor Regis area and is now offering one to one bass tuition.
Lessons are geared towards your interests/style and can cover the following areas:
Technique: Correct posture/ fingering/ positions.Strength building excersices. Fingerboard familiarity: Really knowing your bass. Style: Slap (basic through to two handed patterns), Jazz (walking bass, improvisation over a chord sequence, chord/scale theory) Rock, Funk (16th note approach, deadened notes), Salsa/Afro-Cuban/Calypso/Samba/Bossa etc. |
Theory for the bassist: Construction of chords from scales. Chord progression study. Tiime signature study. Reading: Essential for the serious player Aural Study: The art of listening, getting used to the actual sound of chords/scales etc. The “3T's” of bass: Time (tight rhythmic feel), Taste (the art of being musical),Tone (developing YOUR sound) |
My fees are £30 for a 1 hour lesson.
